Mathews ArtFest to be a monthlong celebration

Creativity will be at the forefront in Mathews in September with the Mathews ArtFest—a series of events and activities planned throughout the month that celebrate the county’s vibrant creative community.
The Bay School Community Arts Center, working with individuals and businesses throughout the county, has compiled an event calendar of activities that provide opportunities for creative exploration in the community.
Inspired by the Gloucester Arts Festival, Bay School executive director Pam Doss said she sees the festival “as a catalyst for continued growth of the arts in our communities, in artist participation, audience development and art tourism.”
The monthlong celebration is anchored by the decades-long tradition of Mathews Market Days on Sept. 5 and 6 and culminates with the Bay School’s Gala & Art Auction the evening of Sept. 27.
