Marvin and Jean Brown of Gloucester, both 96, have been members of the York River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons for most of their married life, and they have been married for 75 years. Jean’s mother, Margie Hall, was a charter member of the Christian service organization, which was established in 1928, and started the long Brown family tradition of membership and involvement. Jean remembers taking her mother to the meetings before later joining herself. Throughout their marriage, the Browns have supported the group’s mission projects and have always been willing to “Lend a Hand.” Now that they are nonagenarians, they’re not as able to get about as much, but they continue to keep The King’s Daughters and Sons, as well as the group’s projects, in their prayers. The Browns have also been active as Sunday school teachers in their church, Providence Baptist, where Marvin also served as a choir director and a deacon.
