Marshall indicted on sex abuse charges

Following a month-long sexual abuse investigation, the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office on Monday arrested Kenneth Scott Marshall, 36, of Marsh Hawk Road in Mathews after he was directly indicted by a Mathews Circuit Court grand jury.

The youth leader of a local church, Marshall was arrested during a traffic stop in the 300 block of Main Street, according to a press release from Major John Williams. The suspect had earlier that day been indicted by a Mathews grand jury on two felony charges, one for aggravated sexual battery of a minor through the use of mental incapacity or physical helplessness and one for forcible sodomy of a minor through the use of mental incapacity or physical helplessness.

Investigators were notified in June of an alleged incident involving Marshall and a 15-year-old male victim, the press release stated. Numerous interviews were conducted during the course of the investigation, said the release, and additional evidence was uncovered on Friday, July 13. T...
