MARION LEVINSON KING JR.

Marion Levinson King Jr., 66, of Gloucester,passed on to his heavenly home on Feb. 6, 2012.

He was born in Baltimore, Md., on Oct. 31, 1945. Marion earned a B.S. in Business and Marketing from the University of Baltimore in June 1974.  

He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Vietnam War.

Marion was a member of Union Baptist Church, Achilles, Va., and Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 58, Gloucester, Va.

Marion was preceded in death by his father, Marion Levinson King Sr., and his mother, Alice Foster King.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean M. King; son, John King and daughter-in-law Carol; son, Matthew King; brother, Wayne Foster King, and two grandchildren, Johanna and Erik King.

Marion spent his entire working career in Gloucester County. He spent several years working with his uncle, Gilbert D. King, in his business building custom homes in Gloucester. Marion then began his business career at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science prior to his employment with Gloucester County, from which he retired as Purchasing Director in April 2009.

Marion enjoyed traveling, RVing, fishing, and woodworking. He was a doting grandfather to his two grandchildren, and enjoyed taking them on camping trips.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry and the Rev. Richard Whiteheart were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Union Baptist Church, Achilles. Interment with military honors followed at Rosewell Memorial Garden. The family received friends Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, Va.
