Malcolm Blacken, a native of Mathews County and graduate of Mathews High School and Virginia Tech, was named Senior Director of Player Development for the Washington Redskins on Jan. 9. He has previously served seven seasons as Director of Player Development.
Blacken starts his third stint with Washington after having previously been a strength and conditioning coach for the Redskins on two occasions (1996-2000 and 2010), according to a news release from the National Football League team. In his last season in Washington in 2010, Blacken was responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Redskins’ strength and conditioning program.
