The Mathews High School Cross Country boys’ and girls’ teams had a busy past week. The Blue Devils travelled to Lancaster last Wednesday and Newport News Park on Saturday to compete in the Woodside Invitational. In Lancaster, it was a hot day and a hilly course, but both MHS teams managed to come out on top. They competed against Northumberland, Westmoreland and the host Red Devils. The MHS boys placed first with a total of 23 points and the girls placed first with a total of 17 points. For the boys, Adam Greve placed first with a time of 20:21. Ivar Golden placed third in 20:41. Next for the Devils was Greyson Clements in 21:32, Kristopher Diggs (21:46), Elton Hudgins (22:16), Cole Christensen (23:19), Bryce Larson (23:53), Lincoln Williams (26:24), Camden Clements (JV, 26:35), Brayden Jorgensen (27:45) and Lars Golden (JV, 35:25).
