Make-up days set for Gloucester schools

Gloucester public school children will attend a full day of school on Thursday, Dec. 20 and on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, the Gloucester County School Board decided Tuesday. Both days had previously been scheduled as early dismissal days for students.

The schedule changes were necessitated by school being closed on Monday of this week and having a two-hour delay on Tuesday due to inclement weather. 

The changes also moved exams to Jan. 28 and 29, with Jan. 30 being a professional day for staff. The second semester will now begin on Jan. 31. 

In other business, the board voted 5-2 to maintain a 5:30 p.m. start time for its monthly meetings, followed by a closed session. The 5:30 p.m. start time had been in effect since October on a trial basis. The monthly meetings previously began with a closed session at 5:30 p.m., followed by the regular open meeting at 7 p.m.
