MABEL DIGGS CRAY

Mabel Diggs Cray of Mathews, Va., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at Riverside-Mathews Convalescent Center.

Mabel was a lifelong resident of Mathews County, where she lived her entire life until the last two months in her home in which she was born. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always greeted friends and family with her beautiful smile.

Mabel was kind, caring and a strong Christian lady. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she played the piano for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Linwood Cray, and her daughter, Ellen C. Leigh.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Rebecca Teagle and her husband Robert; two great-grandchildren, Meg and Andrew Teagle.

The family received friends on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, from 10-11 a.m. in Bethel United Methodist Church, Onemo, Va. A funeral service followed at 11 o’clock at the church. Burial followed in Pear Tree Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Lisa Conway, P.O. Box 364, Mathews, Va. 23109.

The family would like to thank Ann Godsey for the time she spent caring for Mabel and Riverside-Mathews Convalescent Center for their loving care for the past two months.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, was in charge of the arrangements.
