M.D. Express opens Gloucester location

M.D. Express, an urgent care center, opened its first Middle Peninsula facility July 1 on Route 17 south of Short Lane in Gloucester.

Located just south of the former Department of Motor Vehicles building, the new, modern medical center provides all types of routine and urgent care, said Dr. Michael Rogowski of Williamsburg, one of the three partners in the practice. Rogowski, along with Drs. Chan Park and Michael Renforth, both of Yorktown, started what’s now M.D. Express in 2004 in Williamsburg and they have added one center each in Yorktown (2006), Newport News (2008) and Hampton (2011).

Rogowski said the Gloucester facility is equipped to handle many medical procedures, but said those experiencing strokes or heart attacks should go directly to a hospital emergency department.

The staff rotates among the four centers, Rogowski said, but there will generally be a doctor, a registered or licensed practical nurse, a medical assistant, and two receptionists at each clinic. In a...
