With local waters warming up, summertime fish species are gathering citation catches for local anglers.
The June 18 and June 25 online vasaltwaterfisherman.com issues reported the following new citation recipients in the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament:
Cobia: Garrett Albertson of Gloucester receiving a release citation for a 55-inch fish caught June 1 at York Spit Light;
Flounder: James R. Williams of Gloucester caught a 7-pound, 9-ounce fish on June 7 at Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel; and Jeremy M. Healy of Gloucester, 6-pound, 4-ounce fish also caught June 7, also at CBBT;
Sheepshead: Jay Brown of Hayes, 12-pound, 4-ounce fish caught June 9 at Mobjack Bay Reef; Jacob Tolefson of Gloucester caught a 10-pound, 7-ounce fish June 7 in Mobjack Bay; Robert F. Flippin of Gloucester caught at 11-pound, 8-ounce fish June 5 at Anglo-African wreck; Austin Coates of Hayes, 10-pound, 1-ounce fish caught June 4 at Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel;
