Local history talks next month at Edgehill House

The Gloucester Woman’s Club will be hosting a series of talks of local historic and community interest on Wednesday evenings in July. Each program will run from 7-8 p.m. at the historic Edgehill House, 6805 Main Street, Gloucester.
Topics include:
July 2—“Steamboats”—moving goods and people around Eastern Virginia.
July 9—“Natural Treasures Under Our Waters”—Underwater mining is not a new venture.
July 16—“Country Stores Still Surviving”—Buck’s Rowe’s Store in Bena and Nuttall’s Store in Ware Neck.
July 23—“Building a Bridge Over the York”—Connecting the peninsulas.
July 30—“Native Plants”—They have always been here.
Each 35-40 minute talk will be followed by a brief question-and-answer period along with light refreshments.
