Sometime earlier this year, I read that part of the Gloucester County School Board budget for renovation of T.C. Walker included removal of asbestos from the gym ceiling and lead paint from some bookshelves in the classrooms. If I remember correctly, the hazards of asbestos come from breathing the dust and lead poisoning comes from ingesting paint.

I find it interesting that once plans were made for T.C. Walker to become school administration office space that these hazards must be removed. How long has the school administration known about these hazards and done nothing? I guess they know what is best for the health of our children. After all, children would never throw a ball or anything else at the gym ceiling, nor would a kindergartener ever put loose paint in their mouth; but adults who work for the school system might do so.
