Letter: The truth of the BBB

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Congressman Wittman is desperately trying to cover his voting record tracks by insisting in his constituent emails that his support for the Big Beautiful Bill was meant to benefit working class families. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Let’s start with the impact the BBB has on Medicaid. Qualified recipients will now have to apply every six months for this much-needed benefit. Georgia implemented this strategy in 2021 that resulted in thousands of families dropping off their Medicaid roll. Imagine having to renew your driver’s license every six months. I’ll bet the percentage of unlicensed drivers would increase.
Also, Congress purposely didn’t include in the BBB renewal of the special tax credit for health insurance purchased on the ACA set to expire later this year. Without that, many families will find health insurance costs prohibitive given their limited budgets. So, in short, Wittman doesn’t care about his constituents’ health or telling the trut...
