Letter: The power of prayer

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

On July 8, 2016, America awakened to news of the dark events in Dallas, Texas. Our Republic is in trouble. Many citizens have been earnestly praying, repenting, seeking God’s face. Prayers are happening at state capitals throughout America. This is good. More is needed. People should study how Honi prayed.

Honi was known in his time as the Circle Maker. Listen to this story about how Honi prayed and got results:

The land where Honi lived was dry. The people needed rain. Honi was known in his community to be a man of prayer. Often people would hear Honi pray aloud. Because the community needed rain, the people decided to ask Honi pray for rain. Honi declared “The same God who made the thunder will make it clap. The same God who made clouds will make them rain.”

So, the people watched as Honi stepped out of his hut to pray. The people saw Honi bow his head, extend his staff and begin to turn until he stood inside a complete circle. Then Honi...
