Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I wanted to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to the men and women of Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Recently I had an outbuilding burn (I am eternally thankful it was not my house) and these dedicated volunteers came out in full force to my property to extinguish the fire and to ensure everything was safe.

I appreciate that these volunteers had to interrupt their day and leave their jobs and homes to attend to an emergency at mine. They put great effort into suiting up and bringing all of the trucks and equipment with only minutes notice. They were also very courteous and caring.

It is easy to forget these people are here ready to assist us at any time for anything when everything is running smoothly. But when there is an emergency, all we have to do is call and they will be there. For that, I am very grateful.

I urge all Gloucester County citizens to donate and support your local volunteer fire and rescue today.
