Letter: Take time to remember the Gloucester 40

There are days to remember and recall the deeds of our veterans, mothers, fathers and Founding Fathers. For citizens of Gloucester, we should also remember the Gloucester 40 and their representation of all of us in addressing the behavior of the Board of Supervisors.

The actions of the Gloucester 40 were recognized and memorialized by both houses of the General Assembly and by their recognition as Citizens of the Year in Tidewater. We should also remember the monetary costs incurred by the Gloucester 40 that amount to over $80,000. As beneficiaries of the Gloucester 40, each citizen and signatory to the recall petition should consider making a contribution in gratitude for their leadership, representation and demand for responsible government.
