Letter: Stepping up in the community

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

There were two major events last weekend in Gloucester, one planned and one unplanned. The planned event, the Dental Mission of Mercy Project, had another successful year and helped over 700 people. The unplanned event was all the fires throughout the county. In both cases, our volunteers saved the day.

Kudos to Dr. Harris and his team in their efforts in pulling this large undertaking together. Thanks so much to the Gloucester and Abingdon Fire and Rescue Departments for their dedication and bravery battling these dangerous fires.

Our volunteers are truly special and last weekend was a testament to this. These people who gave so much time and effort towards the betterment of our community are what make Gloucester the caring community that it is. My thanks to everyone for their contributions.
