Letter: Speaker clarifies her comments

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

In reference to the article in last week’s Gazette-Journal (“Only 4 speak at CIP hearing in Gloucester,” Feb. 9, Page 1A), there was apparent confusion about my comments.

In referencing the consolidated county/school vehicle maintenance facility, my objection was that it should not be placed on the current Page site. That property was acquired for school/recreational use, not vehicle maintenance. My suggestion was to place it on the old Page site where the too-small, outdated school bus garage is now located. Reasoning was that with the proposed upgrades to Woodville Park, we can probably take advantage of those facilities—particularly when there is water there—leaving land for expansion of the garage.

Referencing the community center and pool, my comments were that perhaps those could be placed on the school property and be used as a shelter and community center, to be used by the school system as well as the community. My only...
