Here’s a strange fact: The cocktail of drugs used for prisoner executions is not manufactured in the U.S., giving some other country say-so when it comes to lethal injection. This is important for two reasons: States are running low and in some cases out of the lethal cocktail; and, Europeans opposed to capital punishment are refusing to sell these drugs to us.

This is just another glaring example of when you pick profit over patriotism by moving manufacturing overseas, there are real consequences. There are other forms of execution, this is true, but many states opt for lethal injection because it carries fewer constitutional challenges based on cruel and unusual punishment … until now, when efforts to mix other drugs have had some bad results.
