Letter: Providing a helping hand during the storm

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Often a personal thank you is not enough, so we want to be sure to acknowledge some people and organizations that truly deserve recognition during the massive snow storm last weekend.

To Lee Smith Trucking, who, without being asked, just showed up at our rescue squad building and plowed the complete parking lot to make it easier for us to get our crews in and get our ambulances out, thank you! To the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department and especially David Bruce Love, who went ahead on many of our calls and assisted us getting to the scenes, thank you!

To Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, especially Captain 605, who handled a call for us as their equipment and crew were closer than ours and the patient needed a more rapid response, thank you!

These are just a few examples of why we love being part of this area and this community. Caring people who give of themselves without expecting anything in return, even to other caregivers. And thank you, Mathe...
