Letter: Please stop the prescription drug pricing crisis

Do these horror stories chill your sensibilities?

“Eli Lilly charges more than $13,000 a month for Cyramza … Novartis’s Zykadia costs almost $14,000 a month. Amgen’s Blincyto…will cost $64,000 a month,” says a New York Times Op-Ed in January 2015.

Business Insider writes, “From 2008 through 2014, average prices for the most widely used brand-name drugs jumped 128 percent, according to prescription-benefit manager Express Scripts Holding Co.”

Congressman Wittman’s constituents were already paying more. In February 2014 PBS NewsHour cited, “Prices in the U.S. for brand-name patented drugs are 50 to 60 percent higher than in France and twice as high as in the United Kingdom or Australia.”
