Letter: Peaceful assembly

I am writing in complete support of the No Kings demonstration that took place on Saturday, June 14, at Port Fun in Mathews.
The Constitution of the United States guarantees the rights of peaceful assembly and free speech. There is no caveat concerning the popularity of the demonstrators’ opinions.
The 200 people who demonstrated on Saturday may not have the most popular opinions in Mathews County. That does not make their views any less valid.
I was unable to attend the demonstration. I was, however, there in spirit. And I completely support the No Kings movement.
Popularity of an opinion does not make it right.
