Letter: Letters hit the mark

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Thank you, Sonya Nachman, for your educating letter in this paper ("Awareness of safe haven laws could have saved life," June 9 Readers Write). You sound like a person interested in ‘life.’ I would hope that would include preborn infants as well.

Robin Thompson’s letter also in last week’s Gazette-Journal ("Resident sees big increase in ‘revenue neutral’ taxes) is certainly true. It is clear Mathews County residents need a new board of supervisors. Mr. (Richard) Hicks and his "taxed enough already" friends are gaining momentum. This current board of supervisors is out of step with the times. They do not seem to understand America’s economic downturn, and how inflation is not a good thing for anyone.

This leads me to wonder why our county Comprehensive Plan calls for density housing in the Village and Hamlets when there are houses empty and for sale throughout the county. Some have been i...
