Letter: Keep an eye on where your church tithes are going

Political correctness is alive and well and thriving in the Christian church. In February 2011, the congregants of the First United Methodist Church in Western Springs, Illinois, distributed Korans to their Muslim neighbors to demonstrate "tolerance." What happened to sharing the Gospel?

A blogger on a Christian website recently lamented "church leaders are cowardly hiding behind the Bible." Many mainline Christian churches have evolved into political machines where tithes are used to support an agenda that is incompatible with the Bible. For example, some denominations extol the virtues of the Muslim faith and are featured on the Muslim Brotherhood website.

Another example is that tithes are supporting and funding abortions through donations to Planned Parenthood. Many church leaders even serve on their advisory boards. A local pastor confided that 50 percent of his church’s congregation would favor this. What about the other ...
