Editor, Gazette-Journal:
In response to Warren Palmer’s letter to “Readers Write” and his paid advertisement on page 3B of the Dec. 24 Gazette-Journal: If all my children could not attend my birthday celebration on the exact day of my birthday, I would not have any problem whatsoever scheduling a celebration on another date at their convenience. This would be much better than for them just to ignore it.
Mr. Palmer is convincing in his argument that Dec. 25 is not the exact birthday of Jesus. He gives us an educated guess that the real birthday of Jesus is Sept. 29. But this cannot be sure as a fact by the information at hand. So, he could be right, but he could be wrong.
This brings us to the point that it does not matter. The fact that he suggests that Dec. 25 was once (or still is) a pagan festival belittles the birth of Jesus. But, looking from the other direction, we can see the birth of Jesus moving into a place held by the powers of evil. Exactly what He came in...
