Letter: It’s about personal responsibility

I have been reading the letters to the editor about the Affordable Care Act. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I believe if you already have health insurance offered by your work, including the federal, state and local governments, and the insurance coverage meets the requirements of the ACA, you can keep the health care you already have. So it is misleading to say that if ACA is good for everyone else, then the aforementioned should be made to purchase it.

It is my understanding that the ACA was created for those who are not covered by the companies they work for, the self-employed, or for anyone who wishes to change their existing plans for a better deal.

As for certain businesses dropping their workers’ hours to below 40 per week in order not to offer health insurance, this is not the fault of the ACA—it is the fault of the businesses that prefer profit over a healthy worker.
