I remember when Gloucester was a welcoming community, residents helped each other, looked out for elderly neighbors and kept a watchful eye on the youth. Now the Gloucester community will be forever linked with the actions of the Gloucester County School Board against Gavin Grimm, potentially affecting next year’s Daffodil Festival, the future financial stability of Gloucester County and marring Mr. Grimm’s high school years.

How can the school board, with purpose and intent, discriminate and deny Mr. Grimm his basic right to utilize the restroom according to his gender? Who is the school board to question Mr. Grimm’s sexuality? The issue is the school board’s unwillingness to accept Mr. Grimm is male.

To those who complained to the school board about the restroom safety of your children, how would you like to be court-ordered to use a public opposite-sex bathroom or single-handicapped? To those who called Mr. Grimm names, how does it...
