Editor, Gazette-Journal: What sort of people are we in Gloucester County? A majority of our Board of Supervisors last week voted to peremptorily and capriciously terminate the contract of our long-serving County Administrator, Carol Steele. Ms. Steele has nearly four decades of exemplary service to this county, with an unblemished job performance and only one year to go before her previously announced retirement date. Does this kind of intentionally cruel behavior at the supervisor level reflect who we are in Gloucester? Now that supervisors Leming, Chriscoe, Hanson, Bonniville have shown themselves to be motivated by mean-spiritedness and callousness, rather than consideration of the public good, we voters have the assessment of them that we need to vote them out.
