Letter: Here we go again

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Well, here we go again. Politicians, clergy and most everyone else are sending their thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families in Oregon. Once again, there will be vigils and funerals for more victims of gun violence in our country. Once again, we should feel the shame of a mass shooting in America.

Yes, yes, I know … the shooter was mentally disturbed. Doesn’t it seem that all the mentally disturbed people in the world live in America? Where else in the world do these mass shootings happen? This man had as many as 14 guns. Luckily, he didn’t have 14 hands, because the massacre could have been worse. Then he killed himself. So, it wasn’t a good guy with a gun that killed him; it was his own twisted mind.

Again, nothing will change. If the slaughter of 20 young, innocent children at Sandy Hook didn’t shake this country to its core and change its heart, nothing will. The only thing that will change will be the locati...
