Letter: Gloucester fire, rescue drive gets late start

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

On behalf of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., I apologize to the residents and business owners for the delay in our fund drive campaign mailing. Due to a change in vendors and a few logistical issues, the official mailing should begin next month.

Those that wish to make a contribution before the last day of the year, your contribution will be gladly accepted (checks, made out to Gloucester Fire and Rescue, may be sent to P.O. Box 1417, Gloucester, Va. 23061). The department had two major capital expenses this year, which include a new rescue pumper for Sassafras Station 6 and to refurbish a Class A pumper for Harcum Station 4. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience.
