Letter: Forrest for Mathews School Board

Elections are important. Often national and statewide elections are the priority because of the impact they can have in your life. Local politics often have the least engagement but these elections will have a greater impact on your community and family. School board members are important even if you don’t have children in the school system. They are the ones voting for budgets, the curriculum changes and programs for the children. They are the ones advocating for the teachers and staff. It is important to have someone on the board that will look out for the best interest of all in the community and I believe that person is Lorraine Forrest.

I believe that she will listen to and learn from the other Board Members and the teaching staff at the schools as well as the community. It would be an asset to have someone who has gone through Mathews County Public School System and who has had a child and a grandchild do the same, be part of it as a member of the ...
