Editor, Gazette-Journal: April Edwards is the best candidate for Sheriff of Mathews County. April has a wide range and a clear understanding of several areas in the criminal justice system which are imperative to anyone who wants to hold the office of Sheriff. Here is what I know about April that should be strongly considered: —She is educated, holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees in areas that complement a present-day sheriff candidate; —Her work in the Mathews County School system gave her the insight needed to work with school officials, students and parents; —She has an extensive background in criminal investigations which will allow her as Sheriff to aid her investigative team and patrol division in successful case conclusions; —She’s familiar with grant writing and its processes; —She has demonstrated her ability to lead through her accomplishments and promotions, and —She has a strong desire to make a difference and ensure that Mathews County has the best law enforcement.
