Take issue with the statements made in the letter ("This election is for freedom" Aug. 23 Readers Write) all you want, but there is truth to the letter. The old Democratic Party I knew growing up is nowhere to be found! The Constitution is clearly under assault by many of the executive orders, bills and laws proposed by the President and Democratic leaders! Spread the wealth, keep jobs from non-union states, stop drilling for oil, tell the "middle class" the Republicans do not care about you and only want to help the rich! Divisive, I think so! When did "middle class" become a political term to be used as a wedge?

The Founders understood that the greatest threat to liberty is an all-powerful central government, where the few dictate to the many. The Obama presidency is an example of how using increasingly bigger government and unlimited funds to solve the financial and social problems of our country does not work! Financially failing, socialist-led Europe...
