Letter: Climate change a tool to redistribute wealth

I write in response to Mr. Gregory Haugan’s letter titled “Bad news from the scientists” in the Dec. 12 edition of the Gazette-Journal. Obviously Mr. Haugan is an intelligent person or he would not have earned a Ph.D.

 

That is why it is surprising that he agrees with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s position that man-made carbon dioxide (CO2) is causing global warming.

 

There has been no atmospheric warming in over 16 years, while carbon dioxide levels have steadily increased. As a result the IPCC has now redefined global warming as climate change. Be not deceived, the U.N.’s purported climate change is nothing more than a tool that drives their radical environmental policies. The purpose of these policies is nothing less than wealth redistribution whereby developed countries generating carbon dioxide must purchase carbon credits from undeveloped countries.
