Letter: Biblical guidance

I often go to the Bible for answers to difficult questions. Here are some Scriptures about abortion.

When life begins: the word “pregnant” does not appear in the original Bibles. Genesis 16:11 says “the Angel of the Lord said to Hagar, Behold, you are with child.” Other verses use the same term, and a child is a human being.

Proverbs 6:16-17 says “…the Lord hates…Hands that shed innocent blood.” That is a good definition of abortion because an unborn child is certainly innocent and abortion certainly sheds the child’s blood. The chemical abortion pills are placed in the pregnant woman’s mouth by hand.

The sixth Commandment (Exodus 20:13) says “You shall not murder.” Abortion is no accident, but is the intentional, planned, scheduled killing of an innocent unborn child.

Exodus 21:22-23 says, “If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely…if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life…” which is the death p...
