Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I have heard the definition of insanity as “doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.” So, here are some questions:
Is the availability of real jobs working for you? Do you feel that our economy is doing well? Do you expect the government to give you more, even when the coffers are empty? Is America respected as much as in the past?
If so, then you probably will accept four more years of the same promises and the same results.
We need a president, a leader, who has the wisdom and humility to know he isn’t always right and that our government works better with respect for all and is willing to reach out and work with those who have other ideas.
President Obama has not done this and, as president, it is his responsibility to do so. He has been described by the media and other friends as charming, cool and calm, but “charm” is defined as deceit and “cool and calm” is actually the fact that he doesn’t care unless the issue is about him.
Passion regarding issues that identify America is healthful and was a great strength for our Founders who literally risked all to make it work. Never have I seen this in the president. More often, he speaks with arrogance and distain that anyone should dare to not believe his every word. Any person who is self-involved to such an extent is a danger to America. Gov. Romney knows how to work across the aisle, has done it before, and also knows when it is time to make a decision. The Romney campaign sign says “Believe in America,” which is what we need to do, but Obama wants us to believe in him and that is his problem. Our government isn’t meant to be ruled by one person because, if it is, then it is no longer American.
We can’t afford to behave in an irrational manner and if we allow anyone another chance to weaken and divide our people, that would be insane.
