Editor, Gazette-Journal: The action of the four Supervisors who voted to fire County Administrator Carol Steele—Dr. Leming, Mr. Chriscoe, Ms. Hanson and Mr. Bonniville—was about politics. With the election in November 2025 of Mr. Bonniville, they created their four-vote majority. In firing Ms. Steele, they have shown a lack of decency, respect, kindness, in addition to appreciation for her numerous jobs well done, and her unblemished career in service to the county of almost 40 years! Gloucester! Is this who we are? Do we want our leaders to put mean-spirited politics above human decency and career without blemish? Ms. Steele had previously indicated she wanted to retire at the end of 2027. These four supervisors could not wait. They slapped her in the face and showed her the door.
