Letter: A selfless deed

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

On Sunday, Sept. 8, I was towing a disabled vehicle on Route 17 to Bobby’s Auto Repair. It was dusk and my hazard lights were failing. My tow line became disconnected between vehicles. My wife had to get in the middle of Route 17 to wave oncoming vehicles into the other lane. I was locked in the vehicle with my young son and could not get out until I found a broken side door that did not lock. We slowly began our crawl to Bobby’s after what seemed like one scary potential disaster after the other.

Then I looked in my rear-view mirror and saw a white SUV with its hazard lights on. This wonderful citizen followed us with his/her hazard lights on the last half mile to Bobby’s and then sped away before we could properly thank them for insuring our safe arrival.

Thank you sincerely and may God bless you, Good Samaritan. Your selfless action is greatly appreciated.
