Letter: A good neighbor

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I would like to thank and commend the young man who assisted me last Wednesday afternoon in Port Haywood. He was very instrumental in saving the life of my white standard poodle. Beau had darted into the road and was hit by a car whose driver chose not to stop. This Good Samaritan did stop and came to my aid by offering his help and support and directing traffic around me as I knelt in the road tending to Beau who was bleeding profusely.

Thankfully Beau has made a full recovery. I would like to be able to personally thank this unknown, caring man and ask him to call me at 725-3821, or just stop by my house any time.

Good neighbors like him are what makes Mathews County such a delightful place to live and I hope that the person who ran over Beau will be relieved to know that he recovered. I also hope that this unknown driver will be inclined to be more responsible in the future.
