Letter: A fork in the road

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

In all the years of my long life, I do not recollect ever witnessing the level of ornery contrition directed at a duly-elected president. The level of divisiveness, subterfuge and outright sabotage of a sitting president has exceeded all bounds of decorum, never mind polite discourse. Some would call it treason; however, that is a matter for the courts to decide.

Whatever happened to the common sentiment expressed by many after Election Day: “He is my president, like him or not.” Where does it say within the Constitution that the president must be liked? This contrariness is now being expressed in opinions to abolish the Electoral College; a clear recipe for disaster if I ever heard of one.
