Letter: Disheartening display

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

On Saturday—Flag Day—I witnessed a group putting on a disheartening display of hatred and disrespect; an anti-American message based on lies. This was no spontaneous grassroots gathering, but was programed by a central authority designed to sow division. The authority is called Indivisible (look it up https://indivisible.org/about), and it’s associated with Soros and Code Pink.

It summoned its minions via an entry on Facebook’s Mathews Hub. They were instructed to use the slogan No Kings (how silly!) but their marching orders in the announcement clearly state the protest was “to counter a military parade planned by Donald Trump in Washington D.C.” That wording reveals the contempt these people hold for our military. Of course, what they called a “military parade” was the inspiring celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the American Army. Thousands of patriotic Americans flocked to D.C. to see it and many thousands more watched it at home.

It is a lie to say it was planned by Donald Trump, although I am sure he strongly supported it. It was planned by the Army before Trump was elected, to start the celebrations of America’s 250th birthday. The protesters sought to disrespect the military although recent polls show that 80 percent of Americans trust the military.

These useful idiots reminded me of my university days in the ’70s when my brother, an Army vet, and my late husband, an Air Force vet, were spat upon by draft-dodging cowards on campus.

Furthermore, these demonstrators are anti-democratic and anti-American because their goal is to spread misinformation and create chaos in order to sabotage President Trump’s agenda although the majority of Americans voted for this clearly stated agenda. Do they really think Americans are stupid enough to believe them?
