Lawmakers press USPS officials on Richmond mail delays

Local Congressional representatives are pressing the U.S. Postal Service on mail delivery delays and disruptions impacting Virginians in the Richmond region.

In December, U.S. Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, joined by Rep. Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond), sent a letter to USPS Virginia District Manager Gerald Roane, saying they had received “countless stories of mail delays and mail security concerns throughout Virginia.”

They recounted reports of late and missing deliveries, sudden stops in service, and mail theft. They highlighted cases that were under investigation, including one in which a Richmond business had been missing deliveries since September, resulting in the non-receipt of paychecks, credit card bills, and insurance policies.
