Laura White Ward, age 89 of Cobbs Creek, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 20, 2011.

She was a lifelong member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church. Laura was also a member of the first graduating class at Mathews High School in 1940.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Ward and two brothers, Dudley and James White.

She is survived by two sons, George Tod Ward and wife Sandra, Allen T. Ward and wife Willis Ann; four grandchildren, Kim, Angie, Lori and Emilie; eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Norris Kiser and Gloria Wood.

Graveside services will be on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at 3 p. m. in Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Va.
