Lambert leads CCS golf team

Under the leadership of captain Pierce Lambert, the Christchurch School golf team is having a winning season. Three members of the team had never played in a competitive golf match until this spring. The team is coached by Tim Roscher, and its home club is Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield.

Pierce is the son of Buzz and Robin Lambert of Hartfield. An honor roll student, he also plays soccer and basketball. He is a student ambassador and member of the singing group, Cantorion. As a junior, Pierce tied for third place in the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association VISAA Division II Golf Championship at Williamsburg National Golf Club and earned All-State honors. As a ninth grader, he was on the VISAA All-State team and qualified for the Division II state tournament, where he finished in second place and scored a hole-in-one. Lambert will play golf at Hampden-Sydney College next year.

Other members of the team include John Buckmaster (Merida, Mexico), Haotian Deng (Qinzhou, China), Aidan Hammond (Bishopville, Md.), Hongxuan Heliu (Beijing, China), Connor Huff (Deltaville), Alex Ihrig (Alexandria), Antonio Moreno Serrano (Madrid, Spain), Cameron Phillips (Alexandria), Jack Rogers (Lebanon, N.J.), Andre Sans Morales (San Lazaro, Guatemala), and Gary Sears (Kilmarnock).

The Seahorses opened the season in a tri-match with Walsingham Academy and Banner Christian School at Williamsburg National Golf Club. They came out on top with a score of 183. Walsingham had 184, and Banner Christian 198. The Seahorse with the lowest score was Lambert with a 3 over par 38. Medalist for the match was Alex Taylor of Banner Christian with an even par 35.

On March 24, Christchurch traveled to Lee’s Hill Golf Club in Fredericksburg for a three-way match, with CCS coming in second (200), behind Oak Crest School (182) and beating Fredericksburg Christian School (205). Low score medalist for the match was Lambert with a 4 under par 32.

In the first home match of the season on March 25, the team competed against Kenston Forest School. Match results were CCS 211 and Kenston Forest 173. Low score medalist was Will Johnson of Kenston Forest with a one under par 35.
On March 28, the CCS team came up a few strokes short, falling to The Steward School 185-201. Low score medalist was Lambert with a 3 over par 39.

In their home match against Atlantic Shores Christian School, CCS came out victorious with a 190-227 win. Pierce was the low score medalist with an even par 36.
