Lady Dukes remain unbeaten on the diamond

The Gloucester High varsity Dukes improved their softball record to 8-0 with a pair of wins last week. Gloucester beat the hosts at Bethel, 14-3, last Thursday and defeated the visiting Wilson Presidents, 7-1, on Friday.
Morgan Haywood raised her pitching record to 4-0 in the win over Wilson. She gave up two hits, two walks and struck out nine. Jessica Hogge paced the Dukes’ offense with three hits. Kaleigh Arnett and Haywood each had RBI singles in the fourth inning when Gloucester stretched its lead from 1-0 to 5-0.
Gloucester scored five first inning runs while disposing of Bethel. The Dukes put together 13 hits with all nine starters getting a hit or scoring a run.
Macy Robbins led Gloucester with two triples to center field and drove in three runs with her third inning triple. Shelby Alto, Nealcyn Watkins, Haywood and Arnett contributed two hits each and Arnett and Watkins had two RBIs.
