Lady Dukes pick up two wins, suffer one loss

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team defeated Jamestown and Grafton during the past week of game play, but suffered a tough loss to Trinity Episcopal. All matches were played on the road.
The Lady Dukes defeated Jamestown, 2-1, Sept. 9. Aaliyah Mattocks led her team to victory by scoring both goals on penalty corners. She was assisted by Jenna Seaton and Hannah Symonds. The midfield was controlled by Charlotte Houtz, Seaton, Maddie Rowe and Kenleigh Hall.
Addy Zabicki stopped 19 out of 20 shots taken by the Eagles. The defense was led by Ellary Miller, A.V. Wymer and Hailee Johnston. The Lady Dukes earned 11 penalty corners and were only slightly outshot by the Eagles, 20-18.
Gloucester fell to Trinity Episcopal, 5-0, last Wednesday, Sept. 10. The Trinity Titans are ranked first in the Mid-Atlantic region by Max Field Hockey. The Lady Dukes held the Titans to a scoreless game until the second quarter.
