Lady Dukes defeat Gators in season home opener

Members of the Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team started their season off strong with a 6-0 win over the Saint Gertrude Gators last Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Dukes Stadium.
The Lady Dukes took 17 shots during the match, while the Gators only took three. Gloucester earned seven penalty corners and allowed none.
Hannah Symonds achieved a hat trick by scoring three goals. Emily Farrar, Aalyiah Mattocks and Charlotte Houtz chipped in one goal each.
Peyton Sutton recorded three assists during the match. Mattocks and Houtz added two assists each and Maddie Rowe, Dani Burgess, Symonds and Ellary Miller recorded one assist apiece.
Addy Zabicki played the first half in goal and made two saves. Ellie Adams took over goalie duties in the third period, making a save to secure the shutout win.
This season, Sutton and Symonds will serve the team as senior captains, while Houtz and Miller will serve as junior captains....
