Lady Dukes beat Devils in basketball contests Monday night

Gloucester and Mathews faced off this week on the basketball court, with the Lady Dukes winning both the varsity and junior varsity contests.

The two schools met in the GHS gymnasium on Monday night, with the JV Dukes winning, 47-33, and Gloucester’s varsity girls beating the Lady Devils, 66-45.

Mathews will be looking for revenge this coming Monday when it has home-court advantage in a JV/varsity rematch, starting at 5:30 p.m.

  

On Monday, Gloucester’s full-court press gave the varsity Lady Devils fits all night long as they struggled to in-bound the ball. Three GHS players—Amani Fields (12 points), Hannah Beth Hogge (11 points) and Cam O’Neil (10 points)—finished the night in double figures. Kenna Keyes and Lauren Hall added nine points each while Kaylynn Glockner (six points), Zebe Rhodes (five points) and Maria Lisi (four points) rounded out the Dukes’ scoring.
