Lady Devils remain unbeaten

  

The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team remained unbeaten following straight-set victories over King and Queen and Washington and Lee in the past week. The JV Lady Devils also beat the visiting Tigers last Thursday, but fell to the Eagles on Monday, 2-1.

The Lady Devils had little trouble handling the visiting King and Queen Tigers last Thursday, winning 25-2, 25-10 and 25-16. Coach Pat Moughon used creative lineups once again to reintroduce the team to the importance of each position.

Hannah Robins led the team in aces with seven. Katelynn Blake followed with four, while Emily West, Kristen Frank and Lydia Hudgins all had three, Jordan Hunley and Hannah Smith each had two, and Mia Gillenwater ended the night with one. Robins also led the team in assists with nine; Gillenwater and Aleya McCurry both followed with four apiece, and Sarah Brown had one.
