Lady Devils on a win streak

The Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball team has been on a win streak, picking up recent victories over Charles City, Jamestown and West Point.

The MHS girls traveled to Charles City last Thursday to face the Panthers. Mathews dominated the contest, beating the Conference 42 opponents, 46-29. Savanna Wooten led the Lady Devils in scoring with 13 points, followed closely by Kai McCann with 12. Madison Owens, Kirsten Beatley, Maria Spadaccini, Lexie Miles, Mariah Robinson, and Taylor South also contributed to the scoring.

The next night at Jamestown, McCann and Taylor South each scored 13 points to lead Mathews over the Eagles, 49-28. Wooten, Hunter Thomas, Owens, Spadaccini, Harley Haydon, and Robinson also scored.

Mathews hosted West Point on Monday, picking up another conference victory, 42-31. Spadaccini led the team with 12 points. South, McCann, Wooten, Haydon, Beatley and Owens also contributed points.
